Indiana is one of five states that don't track divorce statistics.
Although no official divorce statistics are done in the state, Indiana House Speaker Brian Bosma says a 50 percent divorce rate often is cited in testimony on bills before the General Assembly. He says it's a statistic the state should track.
Marriages are tracked by the federal Center for Disease Control, but CDC notes that Indiana's data on divorce is so flawed that it does not bother to report it.
You can get divorced at any time without a legitimate reason. You are not truly binding yourself to your spouse for life as marriage is intended to be.
Covenant Marriage is a separate form of marriage which is currently offered by the State of Indiana.
Teen Birth Rate in Connecticut is amongst the lowest, being 8.3% in 1998.
A Covenant Marriage option would allow couples to choose a more binding form of marriage than is currently offered. Within this form of marriage a couple could not legally separate or divorce without a legitimate reason. For example, domestic abuse, adultery, abandonment, etc. would be legitimate reasons for the marriage covenant to be legally destroyed.
Couples who enter into covenant marriages are required to complete pre-marital counseling. Furthermore, they must agree to further marital counseling should marital difficulties arise.
